Hands-On Introduction to the Lingraphica Speech Generating Device
Friday, October 19, 2007 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Lingraphica is a Medicare-reimbursed speech generating device (SGD) developed specifically to be usable by, and beneficial to, adults with aphasia. In this workshop, we touch on Lingraphica's background, demonstrate key uses, and provide hands-on training on its basic operations with commentary on reasons for its effectiveness. We present illustrative case studies showing how the Lingraphica is clinically set up for use by patients with severe aphasia, moderate aphasia, and relatively mild aphasia. We review the processes of getting a Lingraphica and conducting a no-risk trial for qualified clients, and devote a final section to answering questions of participants.
